Ontario's Farm Income Crisis - What can you do to help?
OCPA is very supportive of the Ontario Agricultural Sector's requests and asks all OCPA members to help out and participate in every way possible. We have to make our voice heard.

Briefs presented January 13, 2005 to the 2005/06 Pre-Budget Consultation Committee:

1. OCPA's Ontario's Farm Income Safety Net Brief
  • highlights the impact of artificially depressed prices and the need for a replacement program for the Market Revenue Insurance Program
2. OCPA's Ethanol Briefing Points
  • highlights the promise made by Premier McGuinty of 5% of gasoline sold in Ontario by 2007 and the need for getting ethanol plants built in Ontario.

CAISP Challenges, Policies and Procedures

The introduction of the CAIS program this past year has generated a great deal of discussion and concern about the adequacy of the program to give sufficient protection to mainstream Canadian family farms from both short term and long term income declines.

This is a more detailed discussion on the aspects of the Modified Accrual, Reference Margin and Structural Change calculations found in the CAIS program.
