Perth County Ford Dealership Reminds Community Farmers Feed Cities!
|
For the
month of Maya car and truck dealership in Perth County is reminding its
community that farmers feed cities and rural communities alike. They're
encouraging dealerships across the Province to do the same. Listowel City Ford, (formerly Harvey Krotz Ford), will support the Farmers Feed Cities! campaign by donating $100 for every new car or truck sold or leased in the month of May to local efforts of farmers hoping to raise awareness of agriculture and obtain a long-term investment from government. |
"Like most
businesses in rural areas, we depend on a healthy farm economy for a healthy
bottom line," says Jeff Selby, sales consultant with Listowel City Ford.
"We feel that everyone benefits from a healthy farming community. "
Selby made headlines
in recent years within the Kitchener- Waterloo area by living in a van to raise
money for cancer research, running a 19 hour scooter marathon to protest gas
prices, and more recently raising awareness for local food banks by living in
a Mennonite buggy. He learned of the Farmers Feed Cities! campaign when a friend
told him about rallies taking place across the province, including in nearby
Teviotdale.

"There
are a lot of farmers in this area, and they need our help," says
Selby. "The Farmers Feed Cities! campaign reminds everyone how important
agriculture is to rural economies, and I'm personally challenging dealerships
across the Province and Canada-wide to help carry that message forward
with similar events while the farmers are in their fields this spring
and summer." This year many farmers across the province have been suffering from one of the worst farm income crises in decades due to record-low grain and oilseed prices. They're looking for a long-term investment in insurance programs to help combat billions of dollars in subsidies other countries pay their farmers. |
