Resolutions Carried at the 2007 Semi-Annual Meeting


RESOLUTIONS PERTAINNIG TO SAFETY NETS
*
WHEREAS the OFA, at the January 2007 Board Meeting, passed a resolution calling for 2005, and 2006 crop losses to be included in any proposed RMP program, and

WHEREAS the G & O group has very recently indicated at the RMP information meetings that 2007 premium waivers would help offset 2005 crop losses, and

WHEREAS the G & O group has very recently indicated at the RMP information meetings that 2006 losses should be handled by the RMP method,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the G & O organizations ask for the support of GFO's as they lobby both the Federal and Provincial governments to have the remaining 2005-2006 losses covered.

* WHEREAS Federal funding of 60% of RMP is critical for the RMP to be effective, and

WHEREAS the Provincial Agriculture Minister stated in the July 31 issue of the Ontario Farmer that "The Ontario government signed nothing, and will sign nothing unless it includes the flexibility that our farmers need and deserve. (Ontario Farmer July 31 2007, page A10),

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that each G & O commodity organization send a letter to the Ontario Agriculture Minister, the Premier and the Ontario Liberal government thanking them for implementing the RMP and supporting the minister's commitment as reported in the July 31 Ontario Farmer to not sign the APF 2 growing forward agreement if it would in any way make the implementation of regional programs like RMP, an impossibility on a cost-shared basis with the Federal government.

* WHEREAS the top level of crop insurance price options needs to be consistent with RMP coverage levels,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the top level of crop insurance price options be consistent with the top level of RMP coverage levels.

* THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the OCPA work with the wheat and soybean boards to move, by November 29, 2007, the MOU agenda to a producer vote so that Farm Products can proceed with a producer vote.
RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO CHECK-OFF FEES
* WHEREAS various farm organizations such as OFA, Ontario Soybean Growers, OCA etc. have been granted fee increases by the provincial government, and

WHEREAS the OCPA has had unanimous support from its delegates for a checkoff fee increase at its annual and semi annual meetings,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the OCPA continue to lobby the province for a ½ cent per bushel checkoff increase as asked for by duly elected OCPA delegates.
