1999 PROWL Essay Competition

The judges have made their decisions in the 1999 PROWL Essay Competition. The sponsors, Cyanamid Crop Protection and the Ontario Corn Producers' Association are pleased to announce the winners and the winning school of our top essay author. Our sincere thanks for the dedication and support of our eight judges. It was a tough job. Follow the links to view these excellent essays. The winners in the 1999 PROWL Essay Competition are:

Kim Quesnel, an OAC student from Chatham, Ontario.

Sarah Snobelen, an OAC student from Thamesville, Ontario.

The competition was open to all Ontario high school students from Grades 9 to OAC. Five lucky students and one high school are sharing $10.000. Four winners will each receive $1,500 scholarships, and the top winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship. The high school the top winner attends will receive $2,000 to upgrade their computer equipment and purchase educational software.

To have entered, a student will have submitted a 500-600 word essay on the role it will play in agriculture in the 21st century. The topics include:

We appreciate the time and effort students have taken on writing their essays. Over 200 essays were received and this has made the task of the eight judges very tough. It has been a great opportunity for students to earn scholarship money and perhaps for your high school to win $2,000 for computer upgrades.
