New CFFO President

The Christian Farmers’ Federation of Ontario (CFFO) has a new president. The Ontario general farm organization elected Jenny Denhartog, a partner in a chicken broiler farm business, as the organization’s first female president. Denhartog comes from Arthur, Ontario and has been playing a very active role in farm issues over the past few years.

Outgoing president Bob Bedggood will continue to play a role as past president of the CFFO on the board of directors. We thank Bob for his support of important initiatives for Ontario agriculture over the past four years, including the Farmers of Ontario, the Odyssey Group and coalition efforts to address crucial issues.

Agri-Marketer of the Year
Our congratulations to Art Stirling, Pioneer Hi-Bred Limited for being named the Agri-Marketer of the Year by the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association (CAMA). Art received the award at the Best of CAMA awards dinner in Mississauga, Ontario late last year. CAMA has over 500 members across Canada representing a variety of advertising, public relations and agriculture business organizations.

Canadian International Farm Equipment Show
A reminder to everyone that the 2002 Canadian International Farm Equipment Show will take place from February 5-8, 2002 at the International Centre,6900 Airport Road in Mississauga. Every year, approximately 50,000 visitors make their way through 600 exhibits representing 5,000 companies. It’s a chance for Ontario corn producers to see what’s new in agriculture products for the upcoming crop year.

Innovative Farmers
The theme for the Innovative Farmers Conference 2002 will be “Making Opportunities Out of Today’s Challenges”. The annual event will be held on February 19-20, 2002 at the London Convention Centre.

The conference will feature more than twenty speakers addressing a wide range of issues, including: no-till corn, nitrogen in no-till corn, marketing, value-added farming, precision agriculture, reduced herbicide rates, agriculture in China, greenhouse gases and more.
