Single Producer Registration Number for Corn and Wheat Producers Now in Effect

Effective June 1, 2002, Ontario corn and wheat producers will be identified through a single producer registration number for both crops. The Agricultural Commodity Corporation (ACC), Ontario Corn Producers’ Association (OCPA), Ontario Wheat Producers’ Marketing Board (OWPMB) and Ontario’s licensed grain dealers will be using this new producer number – known as the Agri-eBusiness, or AEB, number – for the 2002 harvest. Grain and oilseed groups have wanted a single producer numbering system for many years because of the benefits it offers in terms of efficient records management.

The new producer registration numbering system will be administered by the Agri-eBusiness Group Inc. (AEBG Inc.) located at 90 Woodlawn Road, Guelph. The organization was originally formed by the Ontario Corn Producers’ Association, Ontario Wheat Producers’ Marketing Board, the Agricultural Commodity Corporation and the Ontario Soybean Growers (OSG). As a result of financial constraints, OSG stepped out of the organization in March 2002.

It has not yet been determined whether OSG will resume participation in order to benefit from the central numbering system.

Starting with this issue of the Ontario Corn Producer, your AEB number will appear as an eight-digit number placed directly above your name or your farm name on the mailing label of this magazine. Please examine the mailing label to verify that the name and address are accurate for your farm operation. Any discrepancies should be reported to the AEBG, Inc. office:

phone - 519-821-1473 or
toll-free - 1-866-766-AEBG (2324);
fax – 519-821-1401;
e-mail – admin@agriebusiness.com or mail to Agri-eBusiness Group Inc.,
90 Woodlawn Road, Guelph, Ontario
N1H 1B2.

Please use your producer-unique AEB number as it appears on the label when you deliver your corn or wheat to a licensed dealer this harvest.
Thank you for your cooperation as this new venture is launched.
